Dusk

We drove home along the old road, running between the river and the sea. Parking the truck in the gravel by the river, we sat together and waited in the dimming light. The sound of unseen birds soon filled the air, traveling primordial paths home to roost. Dusk came and all was still, and a quiet peace settled over the land.
